Mechanical Engineering

Department Profile

Mechanical Engineering is one of the major activities in the engineering profession and is called upon to design, study, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems with the principles of motion, energy and force. To accomplish this, mechanical engineers apply scientific principles to problems that involve the motion of heat, gases, fluids, and solid materials. As technology becomes more prevalent in daily life, mechanical engineers are invited to apply that technology to develop devices that improve the standard of living.

The Department was established in 1981. As on today thirty one batches passed out with excellent academic performance. The Department had a dedicated faculty of highly qualified and experienced members in all streams of mechanical engineering. The department offers four year degree course and also offers one Master's Degree in CAD/CAM, with an intake of 18. The course curriculum has been designed to prepare its graduates to become intellectual leaders in industry, government and academia. The undergraduate curriculum of the Department includes a foundation of mathematics, physics, chemistry, environment, humanities and electrical engineering. Engineering courses in fundamental areas constitute much of the remaining curriculum. A few technical electives allow the undergraduate student to specialize or to pursue broader understanding. In addition, the students develop experiment conducting skill by performing experiments in different laboratories of the department. Graduates of the program will have the professional and scientific knowledge that allows them to be successful as career engineers and in the most demanding graduate programs.

The Department gives importance not only to academic education but also ethical values and personality development of students. The department has been accredited by NBA New Delhi for a period of three years, twice and two years once. The students of MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT regularly organize various technical & extracurricular events and bring out magazine annually under MECHANCIAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS ASSOCIATION.

The Department has exclusive Computer Centers equipped with 50 Pentium-1V and 15 duo 2 core, one NT server and one hp- server and no. of Mechanical related software packages like ANSYS-10.0, Pro/ENGINEER 4.0, CATIA V5 R15, ADMSS, INVENTOR SERIES, AUTOMATION STUDIO, STAR-CD for CAD lab and packages like Master CAM, Emco off line simulation etc., for CAM and Automation lab. The Department has Simulation lab NX-7.1 as Siemens Centre of Excellence.
