Introduction
The Department of English is located in the 3 rd Floor of the General Engineering Block (GEB). It has a well-equipped Digital Language Laboratory and a fully furnished staff room. The Department is dedicated to the development of communicative skills of the undergraduate and postgraduate students, especially, from rural and semi-urban regions of Andhra Pradesh. In addition to the English curriculum needs, the department also trains students for state level and national level intercollegiate literary competitions. The department takes up the challenge of preparing the students for Campus Placement Interviews and recruitment procedures off-campus.
Communication Skills Lab
The state-of-the-art digital language lab uses Ikonnet’s new HiClass SW software solution for teaching and learning in a computer classroom. The lab is designed to operate in a LAN environment with 60 Pentium 4 nodes and a dedicated multimedia server. The communication skills lab has a power backup and Internet facilities. This lab is open for all from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM on all working days. The learning facilities include the following:

Three different levels of software namely –
meet the specific requirements of the learners. Internationally acclaimed comprehensive language-learning solutions to develop pronunciation, vocabulary, composition, spellings, syntax, etc. like Rosetta Stone (Levels 1,2 & 3 with both UK and US English options); American Language Academy’s English Mastery (Levels A, B & C); English Discoveries (Levels 1, 2 & 3), Cambridge New Interchange, Face To Face, English in Mind, English Grammar, Live Action, Euro Talk, etc. is used to teach communication skills to the students.
Special software to develop the writing skills includes Easy Writer and Cambridge First Certificate Course in Creative Writing, etc.
Important and interactive dictionaries like Cambridge Advance Learners’ Dictionary, Webster’s New World Dictionary, Oxford Genie, Oxford Talking Dictionary, etc. help the students to sharpen their in-demand vocabulary needs.
Career English
A large collection of Software preparation guides for GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, CAT, etc from leading and reputed publishers is available for the students.
