Faculty Achivements
- The Academic Qualifications of Faculty had been improved. Three Faculty obtained their Ph.Ds from IITs. Faculty strength also improved. Faculty stability is high
- The number of publications of faculty had been increased.
- One of our faculty had been selected for Advanced Research at University of Toranto, Canada for Six months by MHRD, Govt of India.
- One of our faculty presented paper at International Conference in USA and Canada.
- The Testing and consultancy Cell had shown remarkable progress in the revenue generation.
- Number of short term courses/ workshops attended by faculty had been increased.
- The department has taken lead in organizing workshops and seminars.
- The faculty had been invited to deliver lectures.
Research Activities
The Department of Civil Engineering is actively carrying out Research in the areas of Groundwater Resources, Earthquake Engineering and Stability of Composite Structures.
The Research emphasizes on
- Groundwater Modeling, Inverse Modeling of Groundwater Systems,Parameter Estimation using Genetic Algorithms<./li>
- Structural Control Involving Passive and active control technologies, Self centering earthquake resistant structured systems.
- Mechanics of composite structures involving buckling , post buckling and Vibrations
Publications of Faculty
Faculty had number of publications in the recent past in refereed International Journals (12) such as Journal of Hydrology (Elsevier), Engineering Structures, Journal of Sound and Vibration (Elsevier) Journal of composite Structures, Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, Journal of thermal stresses, ASCE Journal of Aerospace Engineering , ASCE journal of Engineering Mechanics etc. apart from papers in International and National Conferences.

Workshops Organized
- The Department organised one week workshop on “Environmental Studies” for the benefit of the faculty during July 6-10, 2005 25 faculty members from 19 Institutions attended the workshop. Prof V. Bala Mohan Das, Vice Chancellor, ANU Inagurated the workshop
- The Department of Civil Engineering in Association with Institution of Engineers (India), Vijayawada and RVR JCCE organized One day seminar on Earthquake Engineering at Vijayawada on 25th August, 2005 Dr M S S Rao and Dr A V Bhaskara Rao, Assistant Professors in Civil Engineering delivered lectures.
- Dr J Girish, Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering had been invited by Naval Science and Technological Laboratories, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Visakhapatnam to deliver Lectures on Stability of Composite Structures on March 1, 2006.
- The Department organized one day workshop on “ Mechanics of Composite Materials” on 25th February, 2006.Twenty Faculty Members from various Institutions attended. Apart from Faculty, M Tech Students, Final Year students also attended.
- The Department of Civil Engineering is rendering consultancy services through Its highly qualified faculty and sophisticated equipment.

- The Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering Group offers consultancy Services in Geotechnical Investigations, Soil testing, Pavement design, Traffic studies etc..
- The Department is also offering consultancy services in Surveying, Water quality Analysis and waste water quality analysis
- The Central Government Agencies like Indian Railways, Indian Air Force, BSNL, NBCC State Government Agencies such as Punchayat Raj, Roads& Buildings, Public Health, Municipalities,Iriigation Private Agencies such as L&T, Hutch
